Artist's Comments

ok, so i saw this piece by :iconkamikaye: and it had this girl standing in the middle of this gigantic cityscape so I was like ooh...wonder if she was facing the front?
(the piece can be found here:
[link])

So here she is facing the front with a few artistic liberties along the way...done with acrylics and coloured pencils...and yes the light source is coming from many many angles... :D

just to clarify: this character is NOT mine. ^^;

The pose in this is very nice! I love it! there is a great flow into the piece and I love her face! The eyes are a bit big but I guess it's part of the character and it gives her a very unique look! I love the colors and the folds in her clothing are nicely done! Your anatomy skills always impress me ;)

the eyes are very big but i was aiming for a kinda alien feel so it works the way i wanted it too =P
this was one of my lucky anatomy peices before i hit the anatomy slump, sometimes you draw a pose and it's perfect and othertimes it looks as though you drew it drunk and using the rubber end of the pencil >_<
thanks again :D

Liking the pose and anatomy. :nod: The eyes seem a tad bit too big though. :P

thank you, i deliberately made the eyes too big to give her an alien feel, so she's human....but not....at the same time =P

I love the boldness of this, I have not seen anything quite like this, the pose and verything is done very well with enviable skill.

thanks very much, i like poses with a lot of movement or sugguested movement because i find it can really make the piece :D

How do you work the poses out though?
Imagination or mannequin?
Or maybe reference materials?
(I need tips, arty person)

:iconsnake6889:
uh imagination mostly ^^; i start with a stick figure and try to get a line of action that i like, or just look in a fashion magazine for one of their 'jumpy' poses and try to make my character a little less like a skeleton :D
